Biography
Early years
Hannah Louise Spearritt, the youngest of 3 children to Jenny and Michael Spearritt, was born on April 1st 1981 in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, England. She has a sister called Tanya and a brother called Stuart. With only 3 years she modelled for a Mothercare catalogue. At school Hannah loved P.E. lessons and swimming, running and playing tennis became her hobbies. Her dream professions at that time were a tennis player, a fitness trainer, a teacher or a nurse.
At the age of 12 Hannah got a role in the local theatre production Annie, which started her interest in performing. A year later she succesfully auditioned for the National Youth Music Theatre, where she met her best friend Sheridan and her future band mate and boyfriend Paul Cattermole. From 1994-95 they were a part of the production of Pendragon and performed in New York and Hong Kong.
Soon more roles followed: Tin Pan Ali in 1996, the West End musical Bugsy Malone in 1997 and her first television part in The Cater Street Hangman, where she played a maid who gets murdered. She also advertised holiday camps and cars (Mercedes Benz) and was seen at Blue Peter and at the National Lottery Show.
S Club 7
Around 1997 and 1998 ex-Spice Girls manager Simon Fuller was in the process of creating a new pop band. He held auditions for over 10,000 candidates and one of them was Hannah. In addition to Hannah, 6 other members were chosen to form the new group called S Club 7: Rachel Stevens, Jo O'Meara, Tina Barrett, Paul Cattermole, Jon Lee and Bradley McIntosh. The band shot to fame with their tv series Miami 7 in 1999. The show was followed by 4 studio albums, 11 singles, tours, many more television series and a movie Seeing Double. In 2002 Paul decided to leave the group and they changed their name to S Club. Next April, after four succesful years the band members decided it was time to move on and they accounced it during a live performance. Jo O'Meara, Bradley McIntosh and Paul Cattermole are keeping the band alive as they have been touring under the name S Club 3 since October 2008.
Hannah & Paul
Hannah and Paul had met at the National Youth Theatre in 1994 when Hannah was 14 and Paul already 17. Hannah fancied him right from the start but she knew she had no chance as Paul always had lots of girls around him. For him she was this little girl who kept following him with her best friend Sheridan.
In May 2001 the band started their first tour around the UK, S Club Party Live 2001. During the tour Hannah and Paul, who had become very close friends, fell in love. At first the pair kept their relationship secret and wanted to see how it would work out. When they knew it was serious they decided to tell the rest of the band but to still keep it between themselves. Only after a kissing scene in Hollywood 7 in autumn 2001 it was made public. Their love survived Paul leaving S Club, the final split of the band a year later and three more years after that. They broke up in summer 2006 after being together for five years.
Acting career
In 2003 Hannah landed a role in in the film Agent Cody Banks 2: Destination London, for which she had auditioned when when S Club was still together. In the following years she had minor roles in a horror film Seed Of Chucky and a BBC sitcom Blessed.
In 2005 she made a return to theatre when she played in a musical called Snow at London's Sound Theatre. It was cancelled only three weeks later because of poor ticket sales. In 2007 she has had a role in an Agatha Christie television movie At Bertram's Hotel where she played Tilly Rice.
Primeval
In February 2006 it was announced that Hannah had landed a leading role in a new ITV series Primeval. Hannah plays Abby Maitland, a zoologist who becomes a part of a special group who investigate mysterious anomalies, doorways to the past and future. The show got positive reviews from critics and has also had international success. In May 2009, after three series, it was announced that the show would be cancelled due to financial issues. However, a few months later a deal between ITV, BBC Worldwide, Impossible Pictures and ProSieben was put into action and they would produce two more series.
Hannah and Andrew
Hannah and Andrew met for the first time in 1997 through a mutual friend Sheridan. They dated for two weeks but because Hannah was busy with S Club 7 and Andrew with Band Of Brothers, they decided to let go. They met again almost ten years later as they both got a role in Primeval. During the filming of the first series they fell in love. The couple has been engaged since 2008 after Andrew's proposal on a holiday in Mallorca. They also have a King Charles spaniel called Stanley.
